Course Appetizer

Ingredients
  

  • 2 – 1/4 ounce packages ofactive dry yeast
  • 2 tsp plus 1 cup sugar
  • 1/4 cup warm water
  • 2 tsp salt
  • 1/2 cup canola oil
  • 2 cups boiling water
  • 2 well-beaten eggs
  • 7-7 1/2 cups flour
  • ground cinnamon
  • 3 egg yolks mixed with 2tbsp honey

Instructions
 

  • Dissolve yeast and 2 tsp of sugar in warm water (not hotor you’ll kill the yeast!).
  • In a large bowl, combine remaining one cup sugar, salt,oil, and boiling water to melt together.
  • After it cools, mix in beaten eggs and expanded yeast.
  • Add flour to make dough. It will be sticky!
  • Turn dough out onto floured surface and knead untilsmooth.
  • Set dough in oiled bowl, turning to coat entire surface.
  • Cover with damp cloth and let it rise in a warm spot for1-2 hours.
  • Turn dough onto floured surface. Divide into 3 equalparts for 3 loaves.
  • Divide parts into 3 for braiding.
  • Roll each part in cinnamon and braid strips into breadform.
  • Cover and let rise again for another hour.
  • Brush top with yolk + honey mixture and bake at 325degrees F for about 20 minutes.
