Ingredients
  

  • 1 medium red onion, thinly sliced
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • tbsp flaked salt
  • ¼ cup water
  • 4 burger buns, halved
  • 750 g minced beef
  • Flaked salt
  • Cracked black pepper
  • Spray olive oil
  • 4 slices cheddar cheese

Instructions
 

  • Combine the onion slices, 2 teaspoons of theoil and ¼ teaspoon of the salt in a bowl. Turnon the grill and set to 200°C.
  • Once preheated, place the onions on the plateand set the count-up timer for approx. 20minutes or until onions are soft and lightlygolden, turn once during cooking.. Onceonions are to your liking, add 1 teaspoon of thewater to the onions and stir until waterevaporates. Repeat until onions are very softand caramelized, typically 10 more minutes,until all water is used. Remove to a side bowl.
  • Reheat grill to 200°C and place the bun halveson the grill plate cut side down. Cook untillightly crisp, about 2-3 minutes. Set aside.
  • Form the minced beef into 4 even-sized pattiesabout 2cm thick, Sprinkle both sides evenlywith the salt and pepper. Reheat grill to 230°Cand lightly brush both plates with the olive oil
  • Cook burgers with grill closed for about 8-10minutes or until desired doneness. Top burgerswith cheese and transfer to buns. Add onionsand extras of your choice. Serve.
