As soon as I got home from school, the smell of cinnamon would fillmy nostrils. That’s how I knew that Abuela was making arroz conleche. The sweetness of the condensed milk that’s slightlycontrasted with the hint of lemon, for me this was heaven andhome. My Abuela’s food is a form of love, and it is how we stayconnected despite being thousands of miles away from each other.Please enjoy!

Ingredients
  

  • 1 bag of Valencia rice
  • 1 can of evaporated milk
  • 2 cans on condensed milk
  • 2 cinnamon sticks
  • 1 lemon
  • Vanilla extract
  • Salt
  • 1/2 stick of butter

Instructions
 

  • Soak the Valencia rice in water, a dash of salt, and 2 cinnamonsticks for 2 hours.
  • Place the water and rice in a large pot to boil. Add 2 pieces oflemon peel into the pot.
  • Add 1 can of evaporated milk and 2 cans of condensed milkinto the pot.
  • Place half a stick a butter and a dash of vanilla into the pot.
  • Stir constantly until it thickens and add one more dash of salt.
